Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Innovation in Action
In July 2020, Arc Aspicio released our Statement on Social Justice, which built upon our already mature foundation of ethics, fairness, and integrity, and provided an intentional focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. One of the benefits of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment is that it can foster great innovation. Welcoming and hearing a variety of voices and perspectives brings new ideas and creative solutions that benefit our employees, our company, and our clients.
This focus led to our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Innovation (DEII) Blueprint. We simultaneously launched our DEII Action Plan which identifies the actions necessary to bring the principles of our DEII Blueprint to life.
The Action Plan ties each action to a category in our DEII Blueprint and identifies currently planned actions, action owners, and actions’ status. Identifying action owners and action status provides accountability and drives completion of each action. Our Action Plan is available to all employees, consistent with our culture that encourages employees to bring forward feedback and ideas for future actions.
To date, we implemented all seventeen actions included in the original Action Plan. Achievements resulting from these actions include:
Increased communication and open dialogue around diversity, equity, and inclusion. This begins during new joiner orientation, and extends into DEII training sessions, discussions about DEII on our projects, and informal conversations and postings about current issues. These conversations empower employees to bring forward topics of conversation, ideas, and feedback to continue the dialogue
Increased employee engagement and action by communicating expectations and holding employees accountable to actively support creating a diverse and inclusive environment where innovation can thrive. We updated our Code of Conduct to align with our Statement on Social Justice, tied performance bonus of executives to increasing inclusivity and meeting DEII expectations, and updated our performance management process to measure DEII actions
Expanded outreach to candidates by increasing the breadth of networking channels and diversity of recruiting mechanisms, and encouraging employees to share ideas and tap into their diverse networks
Accelerated innovation in our client delivery by encouraging more collaboration across teams to generate innovative ideas
