Counterterrorism
Terrorism continues to be an imminent and constant threat for the United States that grows more prevalent as technology becomes more complex and threats evolve faster than ever. Counterterrorism is America’s frontline of defense against both international and domestic terrorism.
Counterterrorism is managed by the Intelligence Community and multiple Federal partners, including the Department of Homeland Security. Counterterrorism is a critical function of the U.S. Government to keep citizens safe and secure. Cross-Government collaboration and information sharing are vital aspects of counterterrorism and can often mean the difference between the success and failure of terrorism-related activities. Transnational Crime Organizations (TCOs) are a common form of terrorism that DHS aims to address through its actions with Customs and Border Protections (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and other Federal Law Enforcement agencies.
