Giving Back: Supporting Our Environment
Throughout the years, Arc Aspicio has prioritized community engagement, making it an integral part of our company culture. Our company provides employees with annual volunteer hours and encourages them to give back to our community and its members. Engaged employees are more productive, and by allowing employees to grow through volunteerism, you allow for growth in productivity.
The Arc Aspicio team spends the allotted volunteer hours in a range of activities, including participating in Wreath Laying at Arlington Cemetery or helping high school students through the Junior Achievement program.
This past November, a group of employees went to Rock Creek Golf Course to assist the Rock Creek Conservancy in monitoring the health of the forest around the golf course. The Rock Creek Conservancy is the only organization dedicated to protecting the Rock Creek parklands and works to actively encourage volunteering, outreach, and education.
Through volunteering with this unique organization, we learned about native and invasive species in our local area to help the Conservancy with restoration efforts. We took to the golf course utilizing an app called iNaturalist, which makes identifying the differing flora within a given plot much easier. By employing the app and reporting our findings back to the Rock Creek Conservancy team, it allows them to be able to assess the health of the native plants that are essential to the ecosystems in which they reside.
This was a great opportunity for Arc Aspicio and its employees to give back to the community and the environment. We look forward to working with Rock Creek Conservancy throughout the coming years to protect our parklands.
