Arc Aspicio Raises $100,000 for the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation and Sponsors Tenth Search Dog
Washington, DC, April 14, 2020 – Earlier this year, Arc Aspicio reached a major milestone in their support of National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (SDF) with $100,000 raised over the nine-year partnership. In addition, with this achievement, the company officially has sponsored a total of ten search dog and handler teams. The partnership includes fundraising and awareness assistance and periodic pro bono support.
SDF is a non-profit organization that trains rescue dogs and pairs them with first responders to respond to terrorist attacks and national disasters. The organization relies on donations to train the dogs and provide them with the necessary medical care.
“We are so excited to reach this incredible fundraising milestone and we welcome Leslie to the Arc Aspicio Search Dog Family,” says Lynn Ann Casey, Chief Executive Officer. “Thank you to everyone who helped in our journey.”
Arc Aspicio’s tenth search dog, Leslie, is a local, enthusiastic dog originally from the local Metropolitan DC area. Leslie received training on single-scent detection for jobs in fields including narcotics, explosives, and contraband detection. The SDF Director of Canine Operations, Tracy Darling, and SDF handler, Eric Darling, have fostered Leslie’s growth and the SDF formally accepted her into the Canine Class of 2020. Leslie’s natural talents and her training in agility and direction-and-control have made her one of the shining stars of the class.
Within the past year, SDF’s search dogs have assisted in many disasters, including Hurricane Dorian in Florida and around the East Coast, building collapses in Dallas, Texas, a cliff collapse in Encinitas, California, and two missing person searches in Tijuana, Mexico and Mt. Waterman, California. SDF successfully hosted their first state-level evaluation test and conducted two mock tests to help better prepare the teams for the critical milestone of certification.
Arc Aspicio has sponsored search dogs since they first partnered with SDF in 2011. Arc Aspicio and SDF share a similar mission and love of dogs that has fostered an extensive and impactful partnership. Arc Aspicio is proud to continually support SDF and looks towards the future on your team’s successes in the field.
