National Preparedness Month 2010
September has been proclaimed as National Preparedness Month by President Obama to stress the importance of strengthening the security and resiliency of our Nation through systematic preparation for the full range of hazards threatening the United States in the 21st century, including natural disasters, cyber attacks, pandemic disease, and acts of terrorism. National Preparedness Month (NPM) is sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Ready Campaign in partnership with Citizen Corps.
Nearly 4,000 organizations have registered to be 2010 NPM Coalition Members pledging to provide information, host events and/or sponsor emergency preparedness activities in the local community. NPM encourages Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities - Get a Kit. Make a Plan. Be Informed.
As a Coalition Member, Arc Aspicio is sponsoring a blood drive and providing emergency preparedness information to the community on Thursday, September 16, 2010, 10am-3pm outside their DC office (1725 I Street NW). To schedule an appointment, visit the Children's Blood Donor Center website (enter sponsor code ARCA).
