Helios HR
Apollo Award
Arlington, VA, June 5, 2009 – Helios HR awarded Arc Aspicio the 2009 Apollo Award in the Emerging Companies category for their remarkable commitment to employee development. This is the third year in a row that Helios HR named Arc Aspicio as a finalist. The Apollo Awards faced a record number of nominations this year despite a tough economy when most employers were cutting costs.
"I am continually impressed by the level of commitment that companies are delivering to their employee base," stated Kathy Albarado, president and CEO of Helios HR. "Especially in challenging times, it’s easy to let employee development suffer. These winners, alongside the finalists in their categories, have demonstrated remarkable best practices from which we can all learn."
An independent committee selected Arc Aspicio from among eight other Emerging Companies. The committee considered criteria such as a company’s ability to create and communicate innovative and challenging opportunities for employees and the quantifiable impact employee development initiatives had on the organization.
“It is an honor to receive the 2009 Helios HR Apollo Award. The award affirms that we are focusing on valuable ways to help employees learn and grow. It also inspires us to continue that commitment and look for new ways to enhance our employees’ career experience.”
—Maryanne Waller, Director of Talent and Operations
The company’s philosophy of continuous learning primes employees to innovate for clients. In 2008, Arc Aspicio invested in the development of a Mission Training program focused on homeland security and client delivery skills. This unique program guides participants through an intensive three-phased curriculum of customized training and required deliverables. It promotes thought leadership on homeland security trends and focuses on the latest client service methods. Through this program, employees have published articles and insights on the company’s website and weekly homeland security newsletter (www.arcaspicio.com/newsletter).
Employees work with their supervisors and mentors to tailor the program to align with their projects, passion, and career goals. Employees apply the knowledge they attain and the skills they develop to projects at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to achieve results quickly.
